Tibetan thangka depicting a bodhisattva made by a studio of Tibetan priests in Bahktapur, Nepal. As the Dalai Lama made his escape out of Tibet in 1959, some of the priests in is retinue pealed off believing that the Dalai Lama would be returning to Tibet shortly. They are still there, stateless, and making living painting these thangkas in the traditional, staggering, style and craft of the best of the Tibetan thangkas.
